Charity Schmitt scored two goals for Hofstra as they ended a two-game Old Dominion winning streak with a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) women's soccer victory on Friday night.
Schmitt netted a goal in each half to lead the Pride to their third conference win in four tries. The win moves their record to 10-2-1/3-1-0 while the Lady Monarchs fall to 4-9-1/1-3-1. Schmitt's first goal came on shot from the top of the box after she gathered a loose ball. She scored again when Elaine O' Connor sent a soft cross from right to left through the box to Schmitt who knocked it in with a header.
Rebecca Wachsberger made four saves to earn the shutout. Hofstra held a 17-9 shot and a 6-3 corner advantage over ODU.
Old Dominion stays home for another CAA contest on Sunday against Drexel at 1:00 pm.
