Top Ranked St. John's Defeats Monarchs, 4-0

PISCATAWAY, NJ- Number one ranked St. John's defeated the Monarchs ofOld Dominion University, 4-0 in the first round of the Rutgers Adidas Soccer Classic. TheRed Storm are now 8-1-1, while ODU is now 4-3.

St. John's led, 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Chris Corcoran. The Red Storm scoredthree second half goals by Angel Rodriguez, Simone Salimo and Rich Bradley. Bradley,Salimo, and Rodriguez each had an assist on the night as well.

This was the Monarchs third game this season against a nationally ranked team.Earlier this season ODU lost to #22 Wake Forest, then defeated #12 American University.

ODU goal keeper Samuel Cameron (Raleigh, NC.) came up with seven saves on the evening. The Red Storm outshot the Monarchs, 20-7. ODU will play host Rutgers, currently ranked 13thnationally on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
