KINGS POINT, NY - The Old Dominion University sailing squad placed ninthat the Nevins Trophy held at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Saturday. Senior skipperNeil Ford (St. John's, Virgin Islands) piloted the Monarchs "C" division boat to fifth place.
After 60 races, ODU finished the 20-team regatta with 526 points. The host USMMA-Kings Point captured first place with 310 points. Besides the fifth place finish in "C" division, ODU took eighth in "A" division and 13th in "B" division.
The Monarchs "A" boat was skippered by Jack Kerr (Seattle, WA) with crew , Cara Gibbons-Neff (Annapolis, MD. )and Bill Berg (Longwood, FL.). The "B" boat was skippered by Ignacio Saraleigui (Montevideo, Uruguay) with crew Anna Cobb (Mechanicsville, VA.) and Amy Bourne(Virginia Beach, VA.).
