The Old Dominion sailng team was represented at the Navy Laser Opener by a men's singlehanded team. The Monarchs sent four members in hopes of qualifying for the district championships.
ODU's top finisher was Neil Ford (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) who came in 11th with 172 points and freshman Charles Higgins (Arlington, TX) was right behind him at 12th with 176 points. Jack Kerr (Seattle, WA) rounded out the squad at 14th. In this event the top six qualify for the district championships in Annapolis, MD. The Monarchs will have to try again at the South Laser Qualifier next weekend.
