Old Dominion's most prolific hurdler, Lou Cappi earned NCAA All-Americanhonors in 1966, and was the teamMVP in both 1964 and 1966. During his career, Cappi lost only one dualhigh hurdle meet race. In1966, he won the NCAA Regional high hurdle Championship and placed secondin 1965.

Cappi placed fifth at the NCAA National Championships. Upon graduation,Cappi held Old Dominionand conference (Mason Dixon) hurdle records. He was co-holder of theschool's 120-yard high hurdles (14.3), and was the co-holder of the state 70-yard high hurdles (8.7). He also owned the LittleEight Conference record in the330 yard intermediat hurdles (40.1) in 1964 and the William and Mary Indoor50 yard High Hurdles(6.5) as well as the 50 yard low hurdles (6.1) in 1966.

Cappi was the Mason Dixon Conference champion in the high hurdles in 1966and the Little EightConference high hurdles champion in 1964 and 1965. He won the Colonialrelays High Hurdle titlein 1966.

A native of Norfolk, Cappi has been a program coordinator for the City ofBeaumont, TexasParks and Recreation. He graduated from Old Dominion with a degree inphysical education.
