HONOLULU, HI- Senior Brad Funk(Harbor Bluffs, FL.) and junior Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI.)repeated as first team ICSA/Ronstan All-American sailors. They were joined on the All-American squad by Matt Allen (Beverly, MA.), Corrie Clement (Metarie, LA.), with crew Anna Cobb (Mechanicsville, VA.), Elizabeth Biondi (Norwalk, CT.), and Elizabeth Bower (Fairport, NY.). Funk was one of four finalists for Collegiate Sailor of the Year.

Brad Funk finished second at the ICSA Singlehanded National Championshipslast November and skippered the Monarchs to sixth at the Team Race championshipsand fourth at the coed dinghy championships. Funk was also selected Male Athlete ofthe Year in April by the Old Dominion University Alumni Association.

Barkow earned her third straight All-American honor. In the fall, she placedthird at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championships, and skippered theLady Monarchs to the Women's national championship last week.

Matt Allen skippered ODU's B division boat in both the Team Race andCo-ed Dinghy national championships. Clement, skippered the Lady MonarchsB division boat as ODU won the ICSA Women's National Championship.

Monarchs who earned All-American crew honors were Anna Cobb, Elisabeth Biondi and Elizabeth Bower. Biondi is a repeat selection from last year.

Collegiate sailing has six national championships throughout the year, threein the fall, and three in the spring. Old Dominion qualified for five, taking second inthe men's singlehanded and third in the women's, held at ODU in November. In thespring, the Monarchs captured the women's national championship, took sixth inthe team race and fourth in the dinghy. During the season, the ODU sailors ranked number one nationally in the coed top twenty and second in women's sailing.
