Liberty Defeats Monarchs, 11-6

NORFOLK, VA. - John Bona's RBI double in the bottom of the sixthbroke a six all tie and helped the Flames of Liberty University to an 11-6 non conference victory over Old Dominion Tuesday night at Merritt Hutchinson Stadiumin Lynchburg, Va. ODU is now 24-25, while the Flames are 28-21-2.

Liberty took a 5-0 lead into the fourth after a grand slam homer by Kelly Knouse. ODU rallied with six runs in the top of the fourth thanks to a two-run singleby Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) and three bases loaded walks and a wild pitch which plated the other four runs.

With a 7-6 lead, Liberty exploded for four more runs in the seventh highlightedby Matt Hagen's solo home run.

Brandon LeNoir (Ocala, FL.) and Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) led ODU with two hits each on the evening. Joey Monahan led Liberty with three hits. Todd Mittauer got the win in relief for theFlames.

ODU returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Duke at 7 p.m. inthe Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
