NORFOLK, VA. - Kevin Snapp (Yorba Linda, CA.)and Gary Lowther (Union City, CA.) each hit two-run homers and knocked in three runs to lead the Monarchs of Old Dominion University to a 13-9 victory over 22nd ranked Richmond Tuesday. There was a total of 27 hits and five home runs in the game between the two teams. ODU is now 15-15, while Richmond is 28-4.

With Richmond leading, 5-1 ODU came back with four runs in the bottom ofthe third on RBI hits from Snapp and Lowther and a two-run double by Mike Croley(Jupiter, FL.). In the fourth inning, Snapp slammed a two-run homer with Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) aboard. After Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.)reached on an error, Lowther who hit two homers against the Spiders in Richmond last week, slammed a two-run shot to give the Monarchs a 9-5 lead.

ODU added a run in the fifth as Kevin Harvey (Riverside, CA.) scored on a wild pitch. In the seventh Musolf singled home Sollenberger(Chambersburg, Pa.). In the eighth, Strick singled home Joe Moore (Woodbridge, VA.)and later Sollenberger would steal home.

Richmond was led by Matt Craig with three hits and three runs batted in. In theseventh inning Craig and Vito Chiaravalloti hit back-to-back solo home runs to cutODU's lead to 10-8. Craig also singled home two runs in the Spiders four-run third inning. Bryan Pritz had three hits, including a lead-off solo home run to start the game in the first inning. He scored three times on the evening.

Kevin Evans (Shamong, NJ.)picked up his third win in relief, while Jonathan Tinkham (Chesapeake, VA.) got his second save of the year. It was ODU's second win against the Spiders this year, and the Monarchs third win over a nationally

Old Dominion travels to Radford for a 3 p.m. game on Thursday, while theSpiders play a 3 p.m. game at James Madison on Wednesday.
