N.C. State Rallies to Defeat Monarchs, 6-4

RALEIGH, NC.-Colt Morton's three-run home run in the bottom of theseventh inning lifted N.C. State to a 6-4 victory over Old Dominion Wednesdayevening. The Wolfpack is now 26-17,while ODU drops to 18-22.

ODU picked up the game's first run in the third when Mike Croley (Jupiter,FL.) scored on Ryan Harvey's (Riverside, CA.) double. The Monarchs tacked on twomore runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) andJohn Oehler (Audubon, NJ.). The Monarchs final run cam in the fifth as Croley stole home.

In the fifth inning, Joe Gaetti sngled in Chad Orvella and Justin Riley doubledhome Gaetti to cut ODU's lead to 4-2. In the seventh inning with two outs, Brian Wright walked and Justin Riley singled. Jonathan Tinkham came in to relieve KevinEvans. Morton drove his first pitch over the leftfield wall for the 5-4 Wolfpack lead.N.C. State added another two-out run in the eighth as Gaetti singled home Adam Hargrave.

Brian Ross picked up the win in relief for N.C. State after pitching 3 1/3 shutoutinnings. ODU returns to action on Friday with a three-game CAA series with Drexelbeginning at 7 p.m.
