RADFORD, VA. - Allen Strick Glen Burnie, MD.), Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) and Jesse Schoendienst (Belcamp, MD.) each knocked in two runs as the Monarchs of Old Dominion University defeated the Highlanders of Radford, 7-3 Thursday afternoon. ODU is now 16-15, while Radford drops to 11-18.
After three scoreless innings, ODU broke out with four runs in the top ofthe fourth. Allen Strick's sacrifice fly scored Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, PA.), Jared Musolf's singled scored Kevin Snapp (Yorba Linda, CA.) and Jess Schoendiest singled home Gary Lowther (Union City, CA),and Musolf.
In the seventh, Allen Strick's second sacrifice fly scored Kevin Harvey (Riverside, CA.). In the ninth, ODU put together two more runs as Snapp doubled home Harvey and Snapp later scored on Musolf's groundout.
Senior righthander Ken Brumfield (Danville, VA.) picked up his first win of the season. He fanned seven through six-plus innings. Jonathan Tinkham (Chesapeake, VA.) picked up the save, histhird of the year.
Radford got RBI hits in the seventh from Nat Hodges, Daryl Douglas and ScottGvozdas to get their three runs. The Monarchs travel to UNC Wilmington for a three-game CAA series beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
