NORFOLK, VA. - The University of North Carolina scored 23 runs on21 hits including a grand slam by Ron Braun in the second inning to defeat OldDominion University, 23-3 Tuesday afternoon. UNC is now 6-5, the Monarchsare 4-8.
Braun slammed his grand slam in the Tar Heel five-run second inning with Ross Adams, Sean Farrell, and Ryan Blake aboard. The Tar Heels had three five-run innings. Ross Adams led UNC with four hits in six atbats and six runs batted in.Braun had four hits and five runs batted in. Kevin Brower picked up the win in relief.
Ryan Harvey (Riverside, Ca.) put the Monarchs on the board in the third whenhe scored on a wild pitch. In the fourth inning, Joe Moore (Woodbridge, Va.) scoredon Brent Sollenbergers sacrifice fly. Matt Moye (Beaver Falls, Pa.) scored on Harvey'sdouble to centerfield.
Harvey, and Kevin Snapp (Yorba Linda, CA.) each had two hits for OldDominion. The Monarchs return to action on Friday when they host Princeton ina three-game series.
