NORFOLK, VA. - Old Dominion University defeated the Keydets ofVirginia Military Institute, 8-7 as Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) knocked in threeruns, while Ryan Harvey (Riverside, CA) and John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.) each knocked in two. The Monarchs improve to 9-9, while VMI is now 7-10.

Originally scheduled for 1 p.m., the game was pushed back to 7 p.m. becauseof the wet weather.

In the first inning, ODU scored four runs with two outs on two-run RBIsingles by Musolf and Oehler. Musolf later doubled home Allen Strick (Glen Burnie,MD.) in the third. Harvey doubled home Oehler and Gary Lowther (Union City, CA.) in the fifth inning.

The Keydets rallied, scoring seven runs in the last five innings. In the ninth withtwo outs Jason Annis doubled home Justin Briggs, and Matt Leake to cut ODU's lead toone, 8-7. Jonathan Tinkham (Chesapeake, Va.) came in to get the final out and hisfirst save of the season.

Annis led the Keydets with four hits and three runs batted in. He singled also home Briggs in the sixth inning. Briggs had three hits on the day for VMI.

Monarch freshman James Burok (Archbald, Pa.) picked up his second win of the year, fanning six in six innings of work. The Monarchs return to action on Thursday when theyhost Virginia at 1 p.m.
