Monarch Tennis Captures 5-2 Win Over Liberty

LYNCHBURG, VA -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team improved to 3-3 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Liberty this afternoon. Five singles players, as well as the Monarchs' first doubles team, emerged victorious.

First through fifth singles picked up victories over Liberty. First singles player sophomore Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) used a three set win over Bruno Coelho (6-7, 6-2, 6-1), while the rest of his teammates captured wins in straight sets. Sophomore Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania) defeated Ricardo Fhinozaki ,7-6, 6-1, at second singles, while Salman Mohammed used a 6-2, 6-1 win over Andzei Coguna. Junior Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden) played to a 6-3, 7-6 win, while countryman sophomore Niklas Oskarsson (Halmstad, Sweden) defeated Kenan Bell with a 6-2, 7-6 match. Senior newcomer Pye Kyu (Kingston, Jamaica) recorded the lone Monarch loss in singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 loss to Joel Moyla.

In doubles, Liberty picked up the point winning two of the afternoon's three matches. The lone doubles win for ODU came from the duo of Csanadi and Binkowski, who defeated Rino and Fhinozaki, 8-3.
