HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - David Fanning scored 14 of his 18 points in thesecond half Wednesday night and James Madison built a narrow halftime lead itnever lost in a 67-61 victory against Old Dominion.
The Dukes (10-8, 3-6 Colonial Athletic Association) led 28-26 at the breakand pushed their advantage to as many as 10 points on two occassions. ODU led 25-23 with3:20 left in the first half on a John Waller three-pointer. In the second half , ODUcut the lead to four, 65-61 on a Marsh layup and had a chance with seven seconds leftto get to two.
Old Dominion (10-10, 4-6) got a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds fromRicardo Marsh, but shot just 38.7 percent and was outscored 16-8 at thefree-throw line. Marsh also performed the double-double for the third time this season.
Kenny Whitehead had a career-high 13 points for the Dukes, and Tim Lyle alsoscored 13. The Monarchs got 13 points from Rasheed Wright and 12 from PierreGreene. ODU outrebounded the Dukes, 41-33, including 21 offensive rebounds.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday when they travel to the University ofDelaware for a 7:30 p.m. game.
