DREWRY JOINS MONARCHSJunior guard Marcus Drewry made his first appearance with the Monarchs at UNLV.The 6-2 guard from Marshalltown C.C. played 11 minutes with two assists. He missedthe first half of the season recovering from surgery to repair an unhealed stressfracture in his right foot. While Drewry played high school basketball in Evanston, IL.He was born in nearby Portsmouth, Va.

JUST LIKE HIS MOTHER??? Drewry's Mother, Karen Drewry was a Virginia HighSchool League All-Star. She once scored 68 points in a game. In 1988, she helped leadHampton University to the NCAA Div. II National Championship and is HU's fourthall-time assist leader with 352.

GREENE PRE-SEASON ALL -CAA: Senior guard Pierre Greene was selected to theCAA pre-season men's basketball All-CAA team by the league's head coaches andmedia in attendance at media day on Oct. 31 in Baltimore, MD. As a team, the Monarchs were picked to finish seventh.

MONARCH INJURIES:Freshman T. J. Waldon (Lakeland, Fl.) is recovering from a stress fracture ofthe third metatarsal bone in his left foot... OTHER NOTES: Freshman Alan Treese (Delaware, OH.) is the only Monarch who has not played in a game this year.

WALK-ON'S:The Monarchs have two walk-ons in sophomore Andreas Themistocleous (Nicosia,Cyprus) and junior Samir Hickson (Collegeville, Pa.). Themistocoleous appeared in15 games last year, including a career high seven points against Taylor's Stanfordsquad in the Puerto Rico Shootout.

GLOBAL SPECTRUM TO MANAGE CONSTANT CENTEROld Dominion University has selected the Philadelphia based firm Global Spectrumto manage the 8,600 seat Constant Convocation Center, which is slated to open in late fall of 2002. The highly regarded company provides management for public assemblyfacilities across the country, most notably the First Union Center, which is home to theNBA's Philadelphia 76ers, as well as facilities at Temple, South Carolina and RhodeIsland.

CENTER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:
* General Contractor, S.B. Ballard is ahead of schedule
* Building will be weather tight by March of 2002 to allow for installation ofinterior finishes and equipment.
* The design for a new Athletic Hall of Fame, to be located in the main lobby ofthe building is well underway.
