NORFOLK, VA -- Junior guard Alli Spence (Lafayette, CO) will continue her medical leave of absence from the Old Dominion women's basketball team it was announced today. Additionally, junior guard Okeisha Howard (Va. Beach, VA) will remain sidelined for approximately four weeks for a fractured fibula in her right leg.
Spence, who began her medical leave from the team on December 14th, has elected not to return to the school for the spring semester. She averaged 3.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for the Lady Monarchs during the first six games of the 2001-02 season.
Howard suffered her injury during Old Dominion's 71-51 win at George Mason on Sunday afternoon and x-rays Wednesday night revealed the injury to her leg. Howard will not wear a cast, but will be fitted with a splint. She will be re-evaluted in two weeks time.
