Monarchs Lose CAA Tourney Opener to JMU

,MANTEO, NC- Old Dominion University Monarchs lost their first roundCAA Tournament game to fifth seed James Madison, 15-2 Tuesday afternoon. TheMonarchs, 19-36 will meet the loser of the UNC Wilmington-George Mason gameWednesday morning at 11 am. The game will be carried live on ESPN1310 radio,and live stats will be on the CAA webpage at www.caasports.com.

The Monarchs led, 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. FreshmanAllen Strick (Glen Burnie, Md.) led the game off with a solo homer. He then scoredin the third on Jeff Eure's (Pillow, Pa.) sacrifice fly.

The Dukes grabbed the lead for good when Alan Lindsey slammed a two-runhomer in the fifth for a 3-2 JMU lead. The Dukes pounded out 19 hits on the day.Lindsey led JMU with four hits, while Eddie Kim, and Nathan Doyle each had threehits and three runs batted in. Pitcherf Chris Cochran picked up his eight win of theyear, fanning 12 and walking none.

The Dukes blew the game open in the seventh with an eight-run outburst behindDoyle and Mitch Rigsby's three-run homers. Strick and second team All-CAA outfielder,Matt Moye (Beaver Falls, Pa.) each had two hits for Old Dominion.
