RADFORD, Va.-- Senior righthander Shawn Weaver (Loganton, PA.) pitched seven strong innings while Mark Michael (Gibbstown, NJ.) and Ryan Dunn (Bristol, Va.) knocked in three runs each to lead Old Dominion University to a 10-1 victory over Radford Tuesday afternoon. The Monarchs improve to 12-16, while Radford drops to 7-14.
Weaver, who missed the George Mason series because of a groin injury scattered three hits and fanned eight to pick up his second win of the season. Freshman Justin Davis (Appollo Beach, FL.) pitched the last two scoreless innings.
Michael drove in runs in the third, seventh and ninth innings, while Dunn hit his first collegiate home run in the six run fifth. The sophomore outfielder knocked in Ross Robertson (Chesapeake, Va.) and Matt Moye (Beaver Falls, Pa.) with two outs. Freshman Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, Md.) had three hits on the day and scored three times.
Radford's lone run came in the first when Damron Shaw singled home Chris Herald.
The Monarchs travel to Winston-Salem on Wednesday to play 24th ranked Wake Forest at 3:00 p.m. After an 0-8 start, ODU has won 12 of its last 20.
