RICHMOND, Va. -- For the second consecutive week, an Old Dominion women's basketball player has been named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week. For this week beginning February 12, sophomore guard Okeisha Howard has been honored by the conference office.
This past week, Howard led Old Dominion to two conference victories with 18.5 points per game on .571 shooting week. The Lady Monarchs claimed conference victories over George Mason and American while improving to 10-0 in league play at 14-7 overall.
In the first game of the week, the 5-5 guard scored 15 points, which included a near-perfect 9-of-10 from the free throw line while grabbing six rebounds. In the next contest, the Virginia Beach native shot a blistering 7-for-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, en route to a game-high 22 points. She also wrestled seven rebounds and dished out five assists as the Lady Monarchs extended their conference unbeaten streak to 112 games.
Howard is currently in second place in the conference in scoring at 15.0 ppg and free throw percentage (.810), seventh in three-point field goals made (1.43) eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.28) and tenth in assists (2.81)
Old Dominion (14-7/10-0) hosts UNC-Wilmington on Thursday and plays at James Madison in a regionally-televised game on Home Team Sports Saturday at 3:30 pm.
