NORFOLK, VA -- Senior Lucienne Berthieu (Rennes, France) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week ending December 9th, it was announced today by the league office.
Berthieu matched her season-high with 16 points and setting a career-high with 19 rebounds to help lead Old Dominion to an 84-80 overtime victory over #21/22 Penn State last Thursday night. The senior helped seal the victory by scoring seven of the Lady Monarchs' 11 points in the extra period and grabbing a crucial rebound in the final seconds to keep the Lady Lions from a possible comeback.
Last week's game marked Berthieu second double-double of the season after collecting 11 points and 10 rebounds at Virginia Commonwealth back on November 23rd. She also scored 16 points against North Carolina earlier this season. On the year, Berthieu is averaging 10.2 points along with a team-leading 9.2 rebounds.
The Lady Monarch basketball team (3-3, 2-0 CAA) returns to action in one game this week. Old Dominion, ranked 25th by this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and 24th in the AP Poll, hosts BIG EAST rival Seton Hall at the Fieldhouse on Friday, Decemeber 14 at 7:35 p.m.
