RALEIGH, NC-The tenth-ranked N.C. State Wolfpack turned in a strong second-half performance to pull away from #17 Old Dominion this evening, 74-58. The Lady Monarchs fall to 2-2 on the season while the Wolfpack improves to 5-0.
Old Dominion shot 11-24 from the floor in the first half and trailed by just four at the half, but the Lady Monarchs went cold in the second stanza, shooting just .289.
N.C. State was led by Ivy Gardner, who turned in 18 points and eight rebounds for the victory. Teammate Talisha Scates added 12 and Kaayla Chones put in ten points and six rebounds.
ODU was led junior guard Okeisha Howard (Va. Beach, VA), who finished with 19 points. The Lady Monarchs inside duo of Lucienne Berthieu (Rennes, France) and Hamchetou Maiga combined for just 11 points.
Old Dominion will try to rebound from tonight's loss when they take on North Carolina on Sunday at 2 p.m.
