NOROLK, VA-The Old Dominion sailing center will play host to the ICSA Men's and Women's Singlehanded Championships this Friday through Sunday. Old Dominion will have three competitors in the events, which begin tomorrow afternoon.
Sailing in the men's division is senior All-American Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, FL), who will be making his second singlehanded championship appearance in two years. Funk has won every event he has been entered in this season, and should make a strong showing racing in his own backyard.
For the women, All-American Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI) and Corrie Clement (Metarie, LA) will be competing for championship honors. Barkow competed in last year's singlehanded championship in Seattle and Clement is enjoying a strong fall season.
Overall, 32 sailors (16 men/ 16 women) will be competing for the ICSA crown. Old Dominion has captured 11 national titles in sailing, with the last singlehanded championship coming in 1996.
