Freshman DaJuan Wagner scored a career high 32 points to lead 12th ranked Memphisto a 91-66 victory over the Monarchs Wednesday night. Memphis now advances to theround of four in the Guardian Classic Tournament in Kansas City, MO. next week.
The Monarchs, 1-1 led early, 8-7 on a three-pointer from freshman Kiah Thomas(Norfolk, Va.). But the Tigers would then go on a 20-5 run and led 41-26 at halftime.Wagner had 13, but would score 19 in the second half.
Thomas hit six of ten shots from the floor for 16 points, while junior MicardoMarsh(Mebane, NC.) added 21 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Clay McGowen(Westerville, Ohio) scored ten and blocked five shots.
The Monarchs played most of the game without senior Pierre Greene (Chicago, ILL.)and starting center Charles Dunnington (Washington, DC.), both saddled with foultrouble.
Old Dominion shot .323 from the floor, while Memphis shot .460. The Tigers outreboundedODU,, 45-38. The Monarchs are now off until Nov. 24, when they host Virginia Techat Scope.
