MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Rasheed Wright scored 21 points to lead Old Dominion to a 69-52 victory over Sacramento State on Tuesday night in the opening round of the inaugural Guardians Classic.
The Monarchs advanced to Wednesday's second round and will face 12th ranked Memphis, an 88-61 winner over Wofford.
Wright finished 7-of-15 from the field, but was only 1-of-7 shots from 3-point range. Wright, who had four assists, hit all six of his free throws.
Pierre Greene added 12 points for Old Dominion, while reserve Troy Nance finished with 11, going 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
Rashaad Hooks led Sacramento State with 11 points. The Hornets shot just 32.7 percent from the field with the starters a combined 10-of-33.
Old Dominion, which led by as many as 16 points in the first half, led 39-26 at halftime.
Sacramento State closed the gap to single digits twice in the second half, the closest coming when Leo Cravey's jumper made it 50-42 with 10:36 to play. The Monarchs led by 19 points twice late in the game.
