CHAPEL HILL, NC-The sixth-ranked North Carolina men's soccer team scored two goals in the final twelve minutes of play to defeat Old Dominion this evening, 2-0.
The Monarchs are now 7-5-1 while the Tar Heels improve to 13-2.
After 78 minutes of scoreless soccer, UNC's David Stokes scored the first goal of the game with a header off a corner kick. Five minutes later Carolina sealed the win with a Marcus Storey goal at the 83:26 mark.
The win was Carolina's ninth in a row and was also the team's fifth straight shutout. Tonight's loss is only the second time all season that the Monarchs have been shut out.
North Carolina held a slim 12-10 advantage in shots and a 8-2 advantage in corners.
Old Dominion will return to action on Saturday night, when they host #25 James Madison.
