CHAPEL HILL, NC. - Amber Chambers goal with 19 minutes left in the match lifted fifth ranked North Carolina to a 2-1 victory over top ranked Old Dominion Wednesday afternoon in a rematch of last year's National Championship game. The Lady Monarchs are now 11-4, while the Tar Heels are 11-3.
After a scoreless first half, the Tar Heels Meredith Keller scored on an assist from Amber Chambers with 32:01 left. Three minutes later,on a penalty corner, Lady Monarch Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA.) tied the match. The winning goal came off a rebound missed shot where Abbey Wooley fed Chambers on the left side of the net.
The Lady Monarchs outshot North Carolina, 11-9. Amy Tran had sevengoal saves for the Tar Heels, while Marybeth Freeman (Holland, Pa.) had five.
The two teams play again On Oct. 27 in Foreman Field. The Lady Monarchs return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they host James Madison at 1 p.m.
