The visiting Scarlet Knights downed the Lady Monarchs this evening, 69-45.The loss drops Old Dominion to 10-7 on the year, while #14 Rutgers improvesto 14-5.
The Scarlet Knights held a 36-21halftime lead, and quickly broke the gameopen with a 18-5 run in the opening minutes of the second half. Rutgersdominated the inside game with superior height, outrebounding Old Dominion35-32 and forcing 20 turnovers, many of which were underneath the ODUbasket. The Scarlet Knight defense was also up to the challenge, limitingthe Lady Monarchs to just .273 shooting on the night and registering 13steals.
Old Dominion was led by freshman Myriah Spence's 14 points and 3 rebounds.
Forward Hamchetou Maiga netted 7 points and collected 14 rebounds.
Rutgers was led by reserve guard Karlita Washington's 14 points. ForwardDavalyn Cunningham scored 12 and center Tammy Sutton-Brown added 11.
The Lady Monarchs will return to action on Friday night, when they host CAAfoe Richmond at 7:35 pm.
