NORFOLK, VA. - Radford University outscored Old Dominion, 9-6 in thefinal three innings for a 12-7 non conference victory Sunday night. The Monarchsdrop to 18-32, while Radford is 12-28.
Jeff Swidrak led Radford with three runs batted in with a bases clearing doublein the Highlanders five-run seventh. Tom Van Hoose had three hits on the day,and along with Daryl Douglass knocked in two runs. Gray Alphin picked up hisfirst win of the season, allowing only two runs through seven innings.
The Monarchs were led by junior third baseman Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.) withfour hits in six trips to the plate. Travis Silver (Weaverville, NC) knocked intwo runs in the Monarchs five run bottom of the ninth. Senior second basemanRoss Robertson (Chesapeake, Va.) hit a solo home run in the the fifth inning,making it 3-1 at that time.
The two teams play a single game Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the BudMetheny Complex.
