RICHMOND, VA.-- Junior Michael Hospodar (Ontario, Canada) and sophomore Geoffrey Harris (Reading, England )were named second teamAll-CAA as announced today by the league office.
Harris, the team MVP was the Monarchs top golfer in four of the sevenspring events and five all together. He finished the 2000-01 season with a 74.7stroke average, lowest on the squad. Harris was third at the CAA Championshipslast month and third at the VCU Fall Tournament.
Hospodar compiled a 75.2 stroke average for this season and was the Monarchstop golfer in five events this year. He placed fourth at the Furman Intercollegiate,and third at Wofford.
Sean Dougherty of UNC Wilmington was named CAA Player of the Year,Virginia Commonwealth's Steve Jenkins was the CAA Rookie of the Year andUNCW's Grant Robbins was the CAA's Coach of the Year, as selected by theleague's nine head coaches.
As a team, the Monarchs lost the CAA Championship by one stroke toVirginia Commonwealth, and placed tenth or better in five of the seven springtournaments.
