NORFOLK, Va. -- Clemson got 14 hits and some strong pitching to defeatthe Monarchsof Old Dominion University, 11-1 Tuesday evening. The tenth ranked Tigersare now 15-5, whileOld Dominion drops to 8-15.
Tigers starting pitcher Jarrod Schmidt went six innings for the win,fanning a career high ninebatters. Kevin Lynn and Josh Cram pitched the last three scoreless innings.
Designated hitter Russell Triplett had three doubles on the eveningand shortstop KhalilGreene and catcher Steve Pyzik had three hits on the day as well. ChadCoder knocked intwo runs.
The lone Monarch run came in the fifth inning as freshman AllenStrick's (Glen Burnie, Md.)sacrifice fly scored senior Ross Robertson (Chesapeake, Va.). Robertsonled the Monarchs withtwo hits.
