RICHMOND, Va. -- Senior lefthander Parker Friske (Virginia Beach,Va./First Colonial) and sophomore righthander Kevin Evans (Shamong,N.J./Shawnee) allowed just three hits as the Old Dominion UniversityMonarchs claimed a 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association win over theUniversityof Richmond Spiders this afternoon at Pitt Field. Old Dominion is now 8-14overall and 2-1 in the CAA. Richmond is 9-11 overall and 1-2 in the league.
Friske (2-3) was the starter and winner for the Monarchs, going 5.0innings with two hits, one run, five walks and two strikeouts. He walkedthefirst three batters in the sixth and was relieved by Evans, who got asacrifice fly and a double play to end the Richmond threat. He allowed justone single, walked two and struck out six in his four innings of work.Evansearned his first save of the season.
After four scoreless innings, Old Dominion scored twice in the fifth.Withtwo outs, senior second baseman Ross Robertson (Chesapeake, Va./GreenbriarChristian) and freshman outfielder Matt Moye (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk)each singled and scored on a double by freshman shortstop Allen Strick(GlenBurnie, Md./Mount St. Joseph's).
