NORFOLK, VA. -- Senior Travis Silver (Weaverville, NC.) continued his hot hitting, knocking in four runs to lead the Monarchs 15-hit attack and a 19-9 win of Charlotte Sunday afternoon. ODU is now 5-12 on the season, the 49ers drop to 6-9.
The Monarchs scored atleast one run in each of the first six innings, including five-run spots in the second and sixth innings.
John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.) knocked in three runs, Mark Michael (Gibbstown, NJ.), Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) and David Vilardi (Fishkill, NY.) each knocked in two runs. Silver hit his second homer in as many days, to lead off the second inning. He also doubled home three runs in the sixth inning. Silver had four hits on the day. Yesterday, he knocked in six runs.Sophomore Ryan Williams (Va.Beach, Va.) picked up the win in relief.
Charlotte was led by Mike Taylor and Thomas Bowker, each with three runs batted in. Bowker, Taylor, Eric Shank and Derek Dixon each had two hits on the day for the 49ers.
Old Dominion host Pace University Monday afternoon at 3 p.m., while Charlotte hosts UNC Asheville on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
