BLACKSBURG, VA.-- Addison Bowman's two run single in the sixthinning put the Hokies of Virginia Tech ahead to stay as they defeatedthe Monarchsof Old Dominion, 5-2 Tuesday afternoon. ODU is now 1-9, the Hokiesare 2-3.
Bowman's single scored Brad Bauder and Chris Hutchinson,breaking atwo-two tie.
Old Dominion scored two runs in the top of the first asfreshman Allen Strick(Glen Burnie, Md.) slammed his first collegiate home run of theseason withjunior Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) aboard. Musolf who missed thefirst ninegames while recovering from fall knee surgery had two hits on theday.
Joe Saunders pitched the complete game victory for VirginiaTech, scatteringfive hits and fanning eight.
The two teams play again on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
