NORFOLK, Va. (Feb. 2) -- Five Lady Monarchs scored in double-figures as Old DominiondefeatedRichmond, 95-82 in a Colonial Athletic Association game Friday night. TheLady Monarchsimprove to 11-7 overall and 7-0 in the CAA, while the Spiders drop to 11-10overall and 5-4in the CAA.
Freshman Myriah Spence (Espanola, NM) scored career highs in points (16),rebounds (15),and assists (3). Sophomore Okeisha Howard (Va.Beach, Va.) led with 19pointsand eight assists. Hamchetou Maiga (Bamako, Mali) added 15 points as didfreshmanMonique Coker (Bronx, NY.). Sharron Francis (Lanham Hills, Md.) completedthe act withten points and eight assists.
Three Spiders scored in double figures led by Freshman Amber Goppert with20points, while Ebony Tanner scored 18 and hauled in ten rebounds. CAA assistleader MicheleKoclanes finished with 17 points and dished out ten assists.
In the first half, ODU led by as many as 23 (47-24) with 2:12 remaining andby 19 at halftime asMyriah Spence scored 12 points and hauled in nine rebounds for the LadyMonarchs.
In the second half, the Spiders cut the Lady Monarch lead down to 13(62-49) with 12:34 left butODU pushed it back up to 22 (71-49) with 10:48 remaining. UR cut it toten (88-78) on a layupby Ebony Tanner with 2:10 left, but could get no closer.
ODU, who has won 109 straight CAA games in a row hosts East Carolina onSunday at 2:00, while Richmond hosts UNC Wilmington at 2 p.m.
