NORFOLK, Va. (September 15, 2000) -- Old Dominion University athletic director Jim Jarrett announced today the addition of a home men's basketball game with the University of Nevada at Las Vegas for the 2000-01 schedule.
The Monarchs will host the "Running Rebels" on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Norfolk Scope, with a return game in Las Vegas on the 2001/02 schedule.
"This game provides another quality opponent on our schedule for the fans in Hampton Roads, as well as a great trip for our supporters next season," says Head Coach Jeff Capel.
Winners of the Mountain West conference tournament and regular season co-champions, UNLV posted a 23-8 record last season, and advanced to the NCAA tournament, falling to Tulsa in the first round. They return four starters and nine letterwinners off last year's squad.
