No. 16 Penn State Rallies Past Old Dominion, 15-13

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. (April 22) - The No. 16 Penn State women'slacrosse team (7-8) scored 10 second-half goals as it came frombehind to defeat Old Dominion (5-11) 15-13 Saturday afternoon at JeffreyField.

Senior Julie Tice had six assists and moved into atie for first place on Penn State's all-time assist chart with 109 careerdishes. Tice is tied up with Marsha Florio, who is also Penn State's careerleader in points and goals. Tice's record-tying assist on B.J. Lucey'sgoal with 8:05 to play tied a contest the Lady Monarchsled for much of the way.

After the Lions jumped out to an early 3-1 lead, Old Dominion wenton a six-goal run to open up a 7-3 advantage. Jennifer Heister, who led theLady Monarchs with four goals, scored twice during the spurt. Penn Statewas able to cut the deficit to three at the break courtesy of latefirst-half goals by Lucey and Jenn Webb sandwichedbetween a Dana Wisniewski tally for ODU.

Penn State scored the first two goals of the second half, but OldDominion quickly regained their halftime advantage with two goals in a60-second span. The teams then traded goals until Lucey got Penn State'sgame-deciding run underway by scoring with 11:07 to play to bring the Lionswithin two.

A Colleen O'Hara goal and Lucey's fourth tally tiedthe score at 12 with 8:05 to play. Then Christine Kenney gave the Lions their first lead since early in the first half with 5:51 toplay. Webb, who had six points on the day (5g, 1a), scored what proved tobe the game winner with 1:29 remaining. Lucey then scored her fifth goal ofthe day with 49 seconds to play before Danielle Hensil tallied for the LadyMonarchs to close the scoring.

Tice led Penn State with eight points (2g, 6a) and Lucey and Webbeach had five goals. Kenney added a pair of goals and O'Hara had threepoints (1g, 2a). Heister's four goals paced the Lady Monarchs and Hensiland Dana Wisniewski each had three goals.
