DURHAM, NH (April 10) - Junior midfielder Dana Wisniewski (Collegeville, PA) scored three goals to lead the 19th-ranked Lady Monarchs to an 8-5 victory over New Hampshire in women's lacrosse action April 10. Old Dominion improves to 5-9 on the year, while the Wildcats fall to 3-5.
New Hampshire jumped out on top early in the game when Sue Yund connected on a free position goal. Wisniewski then scored twice in a span of two minutes before Hensil added her first goal of the game with just under five minutes remaining in the first half to give the Lady Monarchs a 3-1 advantage.
In the second half, Pam Seebald (Brightwaters, NY) connected to put the Lady Monarchs up 4-1 before UNH rallied to cut the lead to 4-3 midway through. Hensil then scored her second goal of the game while the Wildcats countered to keep the Lady Monarch lead at one, 5-4.
The Lady Monarchs then rattled off three unanswered goals as Jenna Bajus (Annapolis, MD) scored with 4:52 remaining to play while Wisniewski registered her third goal of the game with 4:04 remaining and Jen Heister (Fayetteville, NY) scored with 2:57 remaining. New Hampshire added a goal with 44 seconds left, but it was too little too late as the Lady Monarchs sealed the deal, 8-5.
Old Dominion returns to action on Friday as they travel to Richmond, VA, to compete in the 2000 CAA Championship.
