CHICAGO, Ill. (AP) (Dec. 21) - Joe Scott scored 25 points and hauled down a career-high 12 rebounds to lead Illinois-Chicago to a 73-60 victory over Old Dominion on Thursday (Dec. 21).
The Flames (5-5), who improved to 4-1 at home, broke a 10-all tied with an 8-0 run that gave them the lead for good as they built a 38-21 halftime lead. Old Dominion hit only 7-of-24 field goal attempts (29 percent) in the first half. Illinois-Chicago's biggest lead was 19 points, 54-35 and 58-39. Old Dominion could get no closer than eight down the stretch.
The Monarchs (4-8), who fell to 1-8 on the road this season, got 20 points and seven assists from Pierre Greene. Andre McCullum added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Michael Williams had 11 points.
For Illinois-Chicago, Maurice Brown had 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Joel Kardos and Jon-Pierre Mitchom had 10 points each.
The two teams were a combined 3-27 from 3-point range with Old Dominion sinking all of the 3-pointers.
