The Monarchs won their third straight game with a 81-76victory at Dayton Tuesday night. Rasheed Wright and Pierre Greene each scored 20points. Ricardo Marsh added 16 points with eight rebounds. ODU shot .59.6(31-52) from the floor. Last Saturday, ODU defeated Virginia Military Institute,89-81. Pierre Greene scored a career high 24 points, while Andre McCullum, Rasheed Wrightand Heath Burris each added 11 points. Ricardo Marsh hauled in a career hightying ten rebounds. ODU shot .500 from the field and outrebounded the Keydets, 44-36.
JEFF CAPEL-HEAD COACH:(Fayetteville State '77), is in his seventhyear at the helm of the Monarchs. He is 192-151 in his12th season and 113-86 atOld Dominion. Capel was the1995 CAA and NABC District IV Coach of the Year. In1997 he was named Virginia College Coach of the Year. He won his 100thcollegiate victory in the Monarchs 89-81 triple overtime win over ninth ranked Villanova in the1995 NCAA Tournament. Capel was 16-14 in 1994 at NCA&T, losing in the NCAAfirst round to Arkansas. He compiled a 63-51 mark at his alma mater, FayettevilleState, taking the Broncos to the NCAA Div. II regionals in 1993. Capel was inductedinto the Fayetteville State University Hall of Fame in 1999. His Monarch teamshave reached the CAA finals three times, winning twice.
