Old Dominion looks to get back on track wednesday nightwhen they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Hawksof St. Joseph's.
LAST GAME:
The Monarchs lost three games in the Puerto Rico Shootout. ODUlost to fifth ranked Stanford, 84-60. Pierre Greene led with ten points,while Clifton Jones hauled in seven rebounds. The Monarchs lost the secondround game to Miami-Ohio, 64-57. Michael Williams scored 13 and Rasheed Wright had 12. In theseventhplace game, ODU lost to host AU Puerto Rico,75-72. Wright led with 14points and Heath Burris scored 13 points. Wright was named to theAll-Tournament squad.
JEFF CAPEL-HEAD COACH (Fayetteville State '77):
Capel is in his seventh year atthe helm of the Monarchs. He is 189-148 in his12th season and 110-83 atOld Dominion. Capel was the1995 CAA and NABC District IV Coach of the Year.In 1997 he was named Virginia College Coach of the Year. He won his 100thcollegiate victory in the Monarchs 89-81 triple overtime win over ninthranked Villanova in the 1995 NCAA Tournament. Capel was 16-14 in 1994 atNCA&T, losing in the NCAA first round to Arkansas. He compiled a 63-51 markat his alma mater, Fayetteville State, taking the Broncos to the NCAA Div.II regionals in 1993. Capel was inducted into the Fayetteville StateUniversity Hall of Fame in 1999. His Monarch teams have reached the CAAfinals three times, winning twice.

THIS DAY IN ODU ATHLETIC HISTORY:
Nov. 29, 1983, ODU defeated Delaware State in Scope, 105-82 as Keith Thomasscored23 and Monarch Hall of Famer and former Charlotte Hornet Kenny Gattisonadded 19points with ten rebounds. On Nov. 29, 1993, Kevin Larkin came up with afieldhouse record six steals in the Monarchs win over Florida A&M.
INJURY:
Freshman point guard Troy Nance sprained his left ankle on Nov.23rd inthe first half against fifth ranked Stanford. He has not played since, butis a probablefor tonight's game.
FATHER - SON COMBINATION:
Jeff Capel, III, joins his father's coachingstaffafter a stellar career at Duke University. Capel scored 1,601 careerpoints and ranks third all-time at Duke and 13th all-time in the ACC with220 career three-pointers.

The Hawks lead, 4-2. St. Joe's won the lastmeeting,67-53 in Philadelphia. The Monarchs last win over the Hawks was a 62-60 winin1995-96, in Norfolk. ODU is 0-3 on the road vs. St. Joseph's.

EXHIBITION GAMES:
Old Dominion split their two exhibition games. DefeatingCourt Authority, 87-85 and losing to Global Sports, 91-82. In the CourtAuthoritywin Pierre Greene led with 23 points, while Andre McCullum hauled in ninerebounds.In the loss to Global Sports, McCullum scored 25 points and freshmanCharlesDunnington grabbed 12 rebounds.
