NORFOLK, Va.-- Old Dominion University Head Women's Basketball CoachWendy Larry announced today that 6-2 senior forward and two-time CAA Player ofthe Year LucienneBerthieu (Rennes, France) will miss the rest of the season due to a tornanterior cruciate ligamentin her left knee. Berthieu elected to have surgery on Nov. 16.
On Oct. 6, Berthieu , a 2000 Kodak Districk III All-American underwentan arthroscope on her leftknee to trim a torn meniscus.
"We are all very sorry that Lucienne has been dealt anotherdevastating injury, " said Larry."With the history of injuries that she has enduried in her basketballcareer, we were hoping thatthis year would be injury free. We anxiously look forward to her healthyreturn to our roster nextseason."
Berthieu, who averaged 17.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game lastyear will have one more year of eligibility.
