NORFOLK, VA (Nov. 4, 2000) -- The Old Dominion men's soccer team finished the regular season in style tonight, cruising to a 4-0 win over visiting conference foe UNC-Wilmington. The Monarchs finish the regular season at 10-5-2, 6-1-1 CAA. The Seahawks drop to 4-13-1, 1-6 CAA.
On a night when the Monarchs were honoring seven seniors in their final home game, it was fitting that they played a prominent role in the victory. Seniors Phil Coates (Newcastle, England) and Mabricio Wilson (Baldwin, NY) scored one goal each, and fellow senior Michael McCatty (Ontario, Canada) added an assist. Goalkeeper Matt Landman (Beverly, MA), also playing in his final home game, needed to make only one save on the night to pick up his first shutout of the year.
Old Dominion will now await the conference seeding for the CAA Tournament, to be held November 9-12 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
