CAA Tabs Preseason Favorites at Annual Media Day Event

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 25) -- According to a voting pool comprised of coaches, media, and sports information directors in attendance at the Colonial Athletic Association basketball Media Day, the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs are the preseason #1 team while the Monarchs are #4. The conference's annual media day was conducted Wednesday at the ALLTEL Pavilion at the StewartC. Siegel Center on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University.

In addition to the team picks, a preseason All-CAA team was selected for both the men and the women. On the women's side, two-time CAA Player of the Year Lucienne Berthieu (Rennes, France) was chosen as the preseason Player of the Year while Hamchetou Maiga (Bamako, Mali) earned a spot on the preseason team. For the men, Andre McCullum (Whitesville, NC) earned nine points, just missing a spot in the top five.
