NORFOLK, VA. (Sept. 28, 2000) -- The Old Dominion University coed Sailing squad moved up to third nationally from fifth by ICSA /SAILING WORLD magazine. The Lady Monarch sailing squad remains sixth in this week's rankings.
This weekend the Monarchs will be competing in two regional regattas, the MAISA Sloops and the MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championships. Both events will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. The sloop squad will consist of Adam Burns (Youngstown,NY.), Sally Barkow (Nashotah.WI.), Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, FL.) and Jessica Simpson (Ontario, Canada). Last week, they won the Sloop Qualifier.
The Intercollegiate Sailing Association Women's Singlehanded National Championships will be Nov 3-5, while the ICSA Collegiate Sloop National Championships will be Nov. 17-19 in Bay St. Louis, MS.
