NORFOLK, VA. (September 16, 2000) -- CAIS Internet edged out Ronstan by three points to capture the Old Dominion University Corporate Sailing Challenge at the University Sailing Center on the Elizabeth River. This fund raising event benefits the Old Dominion University sailing program which has won 11 collegiate National Championships since 1982.
The winning team CAIS Internet of Washington, DC was led by Rusty and Robbie Dean. In eight races, they had five first place finishes, and three second place finishes.
"This unique fund raising regatta allowed ten corporations and sponsor teams to compete in a collegiate style regatta utilizing the sailing team's fleet of 14-foot flying junior racing sailboats," said Monarch coach Mitch Brindley. "It gives sailors the rare chance to go back to school, while putting the fun back in fund raising."
