NORFOLK, VA. (Aug. 1) - Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University announced a two-year men's basketball agreement that will continue their rivalry, beginning this season on Jan. 25 at Norfolk Scope. The second game of this contract will be played at Scope, a date to be determined in the future.
"The series has produced some great games over the years and there is significant interest in the Hampton Roads community regarding the Norfolk State-Old Dominion men's game, " said Jim Jarrett.
The games will be played utilizing Scope as a neutral site. Seats will be equally allocated with the Universities splitting the net revenue from the game.
"Norfolk State and Old Dominion is a natural. This is a good game not only for the Hampton Roads communities, but for the university communities and their fans," added Monarch head coach Jeff Capel.
Old Dominion holds a 10-6 lead in the series, which began in 1965. Norfolk State won last year's contest, 67-64 before 7,135 fans. Prior to last year's Dec. 29 meeting, the schools had not met since the 1981-82 season.
