Women's Basketball Signs Swedish National Team Member

NORFOLK, VA (July 20, 2000) -- Swedish National Team member Marianthi Koukouvinou has signed a letter of intent to attend Old Dominion University, as announced today by Old Dominion head women's basketball coach Wendy Larry.

Koukouvinou, a 6-1 guard/forward from Stockholm, Sweden, averaged 24 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and four steals per game for her Solna club team. Her team has won the club league three of the last four seasons, during which Koukouvinou has been named a four-time All-Star. In the 1997, 1998, and 1999 seasons, she was the Swedish Club MVP. Koukouvinou has been a member of the Swedish Junior National Team since the age of 14 and has played 31 games with the National Team.
