Troilo Signs With Boston Red Sox; Ross Reports To Billings, MT

NORFOLK, VA. (June 14) - Old Dominion University senior outfielderJoe Troilo (Avondale, PA.) signed a free agent contractwith the Boston Red Sox. He will report to their FortMeyers, Fl. team as a pitcher. Brian Ross, who was drafted in the 15th round byCincinnati will report to their Billings, MT. team.

In four seasons at Old Dominion, Troilo completed hiscareer as the school's fourth all-time leader in stolenbases with 88. His career hitting average was .303 with21 home runs, 279 hits 179 runs batted in and 208 runs scored.

In 1999, Troilo pitched five innings of relief with a3.60 earned run average. He also pitched four inningsearlier this year.

Troilo owns Old Dominion's all-time at bat record with 223for his career. He is second all-time in runs scored andbase hits. Troilo helped lead the Monarchs to a 33-24-1 record. Old Dominionearned an atlarge bid to the NCAA Tournament in Clemson, SC. He hit .304 withfour homersand 52 runs batted in.
