Soccer: Blackburn Named District III GTE Academic All American

NORFOLK, VA (March 23)-- Old Dominion men's soccer player Spiros Blackburn (Denton, TX) was named a District III GTE Academic All American, as selected by CoSIDA. Blackburn is a senior with a 3.92 grade point average in mechanical engineering.

A four-year starter at defender, Blackburn helped anchor one of the stingiest defenses in the nation in 1999 as the Old Dominion soccer team laid claim to the CAA regular season title and achieved a #13 national ranking. Over four years he saw action in nearly 70 games for the Monarchs, scoring one goal and adding one assist.
