NORFOLK, VA (February 8, 2000) -- Old Dominion senior forward Jimmy Tanner (Syracuse,NY)continued down his road to success with another achievement on February 6, beingselected in thesecond round (53rd pick overall) of the A-League soccer draft by the HamptonRoads Mariners.
Tanner, a 1999 NSCAA All America selection, was previously chosen by Greensboroin the first round of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) draft.
Tanner completed one of the most successful seasons in collegiate soccer in1999, scoring 20 goals and adding four assists for the 13th-ranked Monarchs. Hewas selected as the CAA Player of the Year and earned NSCAA All America thirdteam honors, as well as NSCAA Academic AllAmerica first team honors.
The senior ended his Monarch career second all-time in career goals (34) andcareer points (79)and tied for tenth all-time in career assists (11).
